Fiber Formation by Electrospinning.

Abstrakt: This article examines mechanisms leading to fiber formation in electrospinning and compares to traditional dry spinning. By considering specific examples, various scenarios which lead to an increase of solution elasticity will be discussed. In good solvents, the presence of chain entanglements above a threshold number may provide sufficient jet stabilization for fiber formation to occur. The applicability of the approach is broad since a wide range of systems was tested such as those involving strong polymer-solvent hydrogen bonding.
