One of the main problems of SAR imagery is the presenceof speckle noise, originated by the inherent coherent nature ofthis type of systems. For one-dimensional SAR systems it has beendemonstrated that speckle can be considered as a multiplicativenoise term. Nevertheless, this simple model cannot be exportedwhen multidimensional SAR imagery is addressed. This paper isdevoted to present the latest advances into the definition of amultidimensional speckle noise model which does not depend on thedata dimensionality. Speckle noise may be modeled bymultiplicative and additive noise sources, whose combination isdetermined by the data's correlation structure. The validity ofthe proposed model is demonstrated by its application to a realL-band multidimensional SAR dataset acquired by the German ESARsensor. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
