Abstrakt: The goal of this study was to establish the nutritional considerations of the Turkish National Football Team during preparation periods. The ten day camp period before the World Cup elimination matches was analyzed. All players in our research have participated voluntarily. The anthropometric characteristics as well as education levels and energy intakes of the players were determined. Physical characteristics of the players were compared to players from other national teams. The education levels reflected the general tendency for football in the country. The energy intake of the team in this period was high with respect to their training program and recommended values. The composition of the food intake was 55% carbohydrate, 31% fat and 14% protein. These facts show that the nutrition program of the national team during this period of preparation did not take into account the individual energy expenditures considering the physical characteristics of the players and the training program.
