Abstrakt: The article focuses on the application of occupational therapy in the training or rehabilitation of mental defectives. An organized treatment program should include habit training to promote coordination, cooperation, neatness and social adjustments. There have also been studies on the merits of various crafts as treatment for mental defectives. The direct method is illustrated with a group of 20 young boys with chronological ages ranging from eight to 12 and mental ages from six to eight. The group was asked how they would like to write a play, with proper guidance and dialogue, each child took part in creating a story. A project of this sort brings in various craft activities, so that the actual work was not monotonous.
