Abstrakt:	The article presents an approach to the case of mental deficiency in which the problem is being considered from the point of view of the institutional mental defective. The pediatrician observes the defective child from the abnormal developmental point of view. A physical deformity influences the personality development in the normal child and likewise may be considered a personality factor in the defective child. It was stated that the cooperative action by psychologists, teachers, and psychiatrists in developing the potentialities of these patients and in stimulating research is needed.
