The article discusses the author's experience in teaching oral history and narrative methodology within the discipline of anthropology at Hollins University in Roanake, Virginia. The course focuses on the theoretical framework and scholarly analyses of narrative methodology and presenting the life histories of other people. It is critical to consider how to approach individuals and urge them to narrate their life stories. Personal analysis and self-realization must be integrated with structural analyses that question the ways knowledge and power are produced and reproduced through systems of hierarchy and domination. |
