The article discusses issues related to the digital preservation of performing art. Manuscripts, paintings, sculptures, films and recordings can be preserved and archived for subsequent generations to appreciate and analyze. Live theatre can also be preserved by using film or videotape. But films and videotapes are incapable of conveying the experience of attending a live performance. American vaudeville tries to give the experience of live performance through simulated performance, that takes place in B.C. Keith's Union Square Theatre, a typical Vaudeville house seating approximately 1200 spectators. |
