Abstrakt: The chapter features the multicultural women writers of North America in the twentieth-century. The struggles for self-determination, survival, and self-respect by women are manifest in women's literature. Changes had occurred in women authorship during the century. One example of historical change is the increased availability of contemporary literary works by women of color, by openly lesbian women, and by women from lower economic class backgrounds. Also, the availability and acceptability of works of fiction about protagonists and characters from multicultural positions has grown.
