Abstrakt: The article reviews Iranian films that are representative of the film making culture in Iran. This review should serve to highlight the racist tendencies of Western societies that believe and attempt to push through the belief that Iran and other Islamic societies are reactionary, fanatical, fundamentalist, and barbaric. From an aesthetic and stylistic preoccupation with a particular experience to a direct confrontation with burning political and ideological questions, Iranian films project the diverse preoccupations of different directors. And issues relating to fundamental problems affecting women in particular and society in general are articulated with great sophistication and deep understanding.
