The article examines an efficient method for enzymatic production of cytidine 5'-monophospho-N-acetyl-neuraminic acid from inexpensive materials including N-acetylglucosamine and cytidine 5'-monophosphate. Both products were involved in neuraminic acid biosynthesis and were both co-expressed in Escherichia coli. |
