Abstrakt: This article presents a case study on squamous-cell carcinoma developing in an ileostomy stoma. A proctocolectomy and formation of an end ileostomy had been performed on a 66-year-old male for ulcerative colitis 41 years ago. For 38 years after that surgery, he did not consult a medical practitioner or stomal therapist regarding his stoma. Well-differentiated to moderately well-differentiated keratinizing squamous-cell carcinoma was revealed via biopsy of the ileostomy mass. Areas where squamous-cell carcinoma may occur include chronic irritation or injury.
