Abstrakt: The article discusses the influence of boarding schools on the American Indian cultures. Captivity narratives were derived from public sentiments regarding the problems surrounding Indian education. Captain Richard Pratt opposed to enacting a legislation banning corporal punishment in boarding schools. The boarding school system played a significant role in the attempted cultural genocide of Indians.
