This article features U.S. author James Hall. Born into a family of writers and publishers, Hall was reared thinking writing was a part of everyday life. Though his primary occupation was in law and politics, he was active as a writer, editor and publisher throughout his life. He conceived and had published an anthology entitled The Western Souvenir: A Christmas and New Years Gift for 1829 to which he contributed five tales and nineteen poems. Late in his career he authored The History of the Indian Tribes of North America which, though dated in its sociological and ethnological approach, serves as a valuable historical record. |
