| Abstrakt: | This article presents an overview of British drama during the Restoration period. The theaters had been closed in 1642 at the beginning of the English Civil War, and thereafter there had only been some clandestine theatrical presentations. When King Charles II regained his throne in 1660, one of his first actions was to establish two acting companies. |
