This article focuses on the literary works of author James Graham Ballard. Although his work has often received criticism for morbidity and sexual perversion, Ballard has been praised for his insight into the flaws and ruptures of contemporary culture, and is considered by many as one of the most inventive and complex writers of the 20th century. Two of his novels, Crash, and Empire of the Sun, have been made into films. Ballard's early novels include The Wind From Nowhere, The Burning World, and The Crystal World. |
