Abstrakt: This article presents a study which argued that public relations theories and practices are part of the contemporary cultural background that should be carefully examined, not taken for granted. The study has the purpose of providing a framework for synthesizing and organizing the theoretical assumptions found in the public relations literature. It discusses the three metatheoretical approaches identified: functionalist, interpretivist and critical.
