Abstrakt: This section provides an overview of the play Joakim Naked written by Ingmar Bergman. For almost four years, he worked at Joakim Naked, the major drama corresponding to Paul's major novel about another Joakim who goes to hell, and fought the same battle as Paul against his growing conviction that he had overestimated his talent. Whatever his conception of the play may have been at the start, by the time it evolved into the radio play The City, however; is a dream play: the autobiographical elements that had been pieced together in To My Terror... to form an objectified portrait of failure here reveal a mind's disintegration. If To My Terror... can be compared to an obituary, The City is an act of psychological suicide itself.
