This article focuses on the potential benefits for uniform and linen supply fleet operator to upgrade their gas-engine vehicles to diesel engines. According to many drivers and fleet managers, the trend in laundry/linen industry work requirements has been increasing, both in route distances and loads carried. As an alternative to replacing old gas-engine vehicles with equipment of the same specifications, many fleet operators are using the opportunity to invest in diesel equipment that can keep up with the growing challenges and deliver long-term performance for their bottom line. While gasoline engines have been a viable choice in light-duty applications, their viability in the heavier gross-vehicle weight range is far from proven when compared to diesel. On the other hand, consider that diesel engines have continued to increase their lead by delivering more power, better fuel economy, lower emissions and increased engine life and reliability. |
