FinTech Development: A Bibliometric Analysis of the Scopus Database (2014-2024).

Abstrakt: The aim of the article is to analyse the tendency of financial technology (FinTech) development between 2014-mid-2024 using the Scopus database and VOSviewer software to explore the tendency of FinTech development, the highest cited authors, countries that contributed more, and clusters of this rapidly growing field globally. 1,526 articles were selected from the Scopus database using publication year, document type, publication stage, and language parameters. This study focuses on publication years, authors, and countries that made more contribution to its development as well as keywords, citations and subject areas related with financial technology. The findings disclosed that financial technology is flourishing over this period of time. Currently China contributes more to publication of articles related with financial technology which have sharply increased from 2020 to mid-2024 a total of 188 documents. The major subject area is Economics, Econometrics and Finance with 22%. The most cited author is Dariusz Wójcik from Oxford University, UK. 4 main clusters have been identified using on-occurrence analysis of keywords which are fintech, blockchain, banking, and sustainable development. The result of the bibliometric analysis shows that this topic will continue developing in the nearest future attracting the attention not only researchers, as well regulators and practitioners.
