Real-Time Road Sign Localisation through Object Detection.

Abstrakt: The detection of road signs is pivotal for effective traffic management and the operation of autonomous vehicles. In this context, deep learning, especially with respect to object detection models, can make a substantial contribution by facilitating the direct detection of road signs from images captured by moving vehicles. In this paper, we propose a method aimed at detecting road signs by exploiting the You Only Look Once model. We experiment with a dataset composed by 10000 different road sign images by obtaining interesting performances, thus showing that the proposed model can be considered reliable for real-time road sign detection.
