Researchers at Shandong University in Jinan, People's Republic of China, have developed a new method for accurately picking up microseismic signals in tunnels using kurtosis values and the Akachi information criterion (AIC). This method aims to improve efficiency and accuracy in identifying microseismic wave arrivals, particularly in situations with low signal-to-noise ratios. The study, supported by the National Key R & D Program of China and the National Natural Science Foundation of China, has been peer-reviewed and offers valuable insights into microseismic positioning techniques.
