Abstrakt: Researchers from Inner Mongolia University conducted a study on the freezing process of silty clay using a unidirectional stepwise freezing method combined with digital imaging processing technology. The research aimed to understand the physical and mechanical processes involved in soil freezing, such as heat transfer, moisture migration, cryostructure development, and frost heave. The study found that the stepwise freezing test provided insights into temperature distribution, cryogenic cracks, ice segregation, and frost heave, contributing to a better understanding of frost heave during soil freezing. The research was supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and has been peer-reviewed. [Extracted from the article]
