A study conducted at Ningbo University in the People's Republic of China compared the outcomes and quality of life between two types of anastomosis procedures, Billroth II (B-II) and Billroth II with Braun (B-IIB), in the treatment of gastric cancer. The research found that while there were some differences in operative time and postoperative complications, there were no significant variations in nutritional outcomes, gastric endoscopic results, or postoperative quality of life between the two groups. The study concluded that incorporating Braun anastomosis may prolong surgery duration and increase the risk of postoperative internal hernia. [Extracted from the article] |
