A recent study conducted at Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College in India focused on lipid-lowering therapy (LLT) and the unmet targets in Indian patients with coronary artery disease (CAD). The study found that only 25.9% of patients achieved the recommended LDL-C goal of <50 mg/dl, with a high prevalence of diabetes, hypertension, and obesity among the participants. The researchers concluded that greater utilization of combination LLT, including high-intensity statins and non-statin LLT, may be necessary to improve outcomes for high-risk patients.
