Mao Dun Literary Prize is a literary prize that enjoys the highest regard in contemporary China. Since the prize was first launched in 1982, 53 novels have won Mao Dun Literary Prize for their literary and artistic achievement. How are these works known in English world? The present paper is an exploration into the translation and reception of Mao Dun Literary Prize novels in the English world, revolving around the following research questions: 1. Which Mao Dun Literary Prize novels have been translated into English? 2. Which publishers and translators are involved? 3.
