A study conducted at the University of Central Florida compared different techniques for determining the active motor threshold (AMT) in transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) research. The research found that both absolute and relative criteria for determining AMT showed good-to-excellent test-retest reliability, with slightly higher AMTs observed in the second visit using the absolute criterion. The study suggests that TMS researchers should consider implementing relative criterion approaches for AMT determination to track corticospinal characteristics across visits. The research has been peer-reviewed and provides valuable insights for those interested in magnetic field therapy and complementary and alternative medicine. [Extracted from the article] |
