Researchers at the Institute of Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) in Barcelona, Spain, have developed new cellular models to support preclinical studies on ICAM-1-targeted drug delivery systems. These models, expressing ICAM-1 from various animal species, show specific targeting and efficient uptake of anti-ICAM-1 nanocarriers (NCs) via CAM-mediated endocytosis. The findings suggest that these new cellular platforms can aid in in vivo studies on ICAM-1-targeted NCs for pharmaceutical translation. This research has been peer-reviewed and provides valuable insights into drug delivery systems. [Extracted from the article] |
