The article discusses the physician shortage in Hawai'i, particularly on Kaua'i, where there is a 30% shortage of physicians. To address this issue, the John A. Burns School of Medicine has launched the Kaua'i Medical Training Track (KMTT), offering educational opportunities for medical students to train on the island. The KMTT is funded by a $10 million grant and aims to improve healthcare access for Kaua'i residents by training future physicians to practice in rural and underserved areas.
