A recent study conducted at a Spanish tertiary hospital examined the incidence, preventability, and features of adverse events (AE) leading to unplanned intensive care admissions. The study found that the overall incidence of AEs was 17.3%, with 83.5% of them considered preventable. Mortality was higher in the AE group compared to the non-AE group, and the primary cause of AE was associated with surgical procedures. The study highlights the importance of patient safety and the need for improved quality and management of care resources. [Extracted from the article] |
