Abstrakt: A new report from G. Papanicolaou Hospital in Thessaloniki, Greece, discusses the use of extracorporeal photopheresis (ECP) as a non-immunosuppressive treatment for graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) in patients who have undergone allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (allo-HCT). The study found that ECP was effective in treating both acute and chronic GvHD, with a high response rate in patients with severe acute GvHD. The reduction in immunosuppression and the number of ECP sessions were associated with improved overall survival. The researchers concluded that ECP is a safe and effective treatment for GvHD and further investigation is needed to optimize its use. [Extracted from the article]
