Abstrakt: This article delves into the concept of "queer books" in late Victorian England, which are defined as aesthetically pleasing collaborations between authors and artists. It focuses on the works of Michael Field, a pen name for lesbian couple Katherine Bradley and Edith Cooper, and their collaboration with gay male couple Charles Ricketts and Charles Shannon, who published their books. The article explores the conflicts and tensions that arose during the design and production of these books, highlighting the erotic charge of fine press books and the complexities of queer friendship and collaboration. It specifically discusses the delay and design disagreements surrounding the publication of "Fair Rosamund" by Michael Field, where the poets expressed frustration and anxiety over the cover design. The article also examines the role of fine press books in Victorian England as containers for "contesting visions of queerness," and the intertwined history of two books that reflect the culture of queer print in that era. It acknowledges non-normative sexualities and genders without limiting them to specific identities. [Extracted from the article]
