A study conducted by researchers at Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences in Karnataka, India, explores the use of mini and narrow-diameter implants as an alternative to standard implants in dentistry. The research highlights that these smaller implants can be a reliable option in situations where standard implants are not feasible due to limited bone volume, altered systemic status of patients, or financial constraints. The study also emphasizes the benefits of splinting these mini implants to decrease stress on the bone and improve load-bearing capacity.
