A new report from the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics in Maharashtra, India, discusses the practice of intentional replantation (IR) in dentistry. The research suggests that IR should not be seen as a last resort treatment, as long-term studies have shown its success rate to be similar to periapical surgery. IR is typically used in cases where retreatment or surgical treatment is not possible and the patient cannot afford implant placement.
