Abstrakt: The article examines the activities of students and teachers in higher technical educational institutions during the industrialization period in the Soviet Union. During this time, student circles and technical sections were established at institutes and industrial practices were introduced. However, the coercive nature of this process led to negative results, and teachers were criticized for individualism and not involving students in research. The Soviet leadership implemented various methods to enhance the efficiency of training highly qualified personnel for industrial production, with the «Technique to the Masses» society being a significant effort. This society aimed to improve the technical skills of workers and involved both students and teachers. The students were sent to factories to spread technical knowledge, while the teachers gave lectures and created labs and guidelines for practical applications of the knowledge acquired. However, the formal approach to creating such circles resulted in students disregarding these activities outside of education. The party leadership maintained full control over these activities, organizing conferences and passing resolutions to strengthen scientific and educational activities among teachers and students in higher educational institutions. Unfortunately, the Soviet leadership's attempts to establish an economic independence fund for the USSR also had negative consequences. The inability of institutions to provide raw materials for creating their own product samples was not considered when contracts were signed, leading to disruptions and blaming of the institutes' teachers and employees.
