This study investigated improving black cotton soil, known for poor construction qualities, by mixing it with lime kiln dust (LKD) and sand. Lab tests analyzed how these additives impacted the soil's properties. Results showed untreated soil had high swelling potential and low strength. Adding a combination of 30% sand and 3% LKD significantly improved strength, reduced swelling, and lowered the plasticity index. This combination met Ugandan Ministry of Works and Transport subgrade specifications, making it an optimal stabilizer for black cotton soil. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
