A recent study compared prescription patterns and errors between government and private hospitals in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The study analyzed 399 prescriptions collected from outpatient departments and found that both types of hospitals exhibited similar deviations from the World Health Organization (WHO) prescribing indicators. Government hospitals had more omission errors, while private hospitals had higher rates of polypharmacy. The study suggests that physicians in both types of hospitals should be vigilant about omission errors, adhere to the WHO prescribing indicators, and minimize polypharmacy.
