Abstrakt: Scientists have published a "tree of life" for flowering plants, created through gene sequencing thousands of species, including 200 from New Zealand. This tree of life can serve as a periodic table for plants and a roadmap for researchers in conservation and medicine. The scientists note two periods of explosive diversification in the evolution of flowering plants, one during the Mesozoic Era and another during the Cenozoic Era. The project is ongoing, with 13,600 species included so far out of a total of 330,000. [Extracted from the article]
