Abstrakt: The article discusses the integration of innovation and evidence into social policy and practice, focusing on the work of the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) and the Evidence-to-Policy (E2P) community. J-PAL conducts randomized control trials (RCTs) to evaluate anti-poverty programs and works to scale up effective programs. They provide policy outreach and capacity-building to stakeholders. The article emphasizes the importance of methodology, data collection, transparency, and capacity-building in conducting rigorous research. It also discusses the potential of leveraging administrative data and the need for innovative research in areas such as climate change, refugee populations, gender, the private sector, and urban infrastructure. The article highlights the challenges faced by policy makers in using evidence to inform their decisions and the importance of considering local contexts and systems. J-PAL has evolved its approach over time to better support policy makers in developing countries, making research more accessible and building partnerships with governments to scale up effective programs.
