This article is an interview with jazz/funk/fusion guitarist Dewayne "Blackbyrd" McKnight, who gained recognition in the 1970s. McKnight discusses his experiences playing with various artists and bands, including Herbie Hancock, Alphonso Johnson, Bennie Maupin, and P-Funk. He talks about his approach to playing, the gear he used in the studio, and his transition from jazz-fusion to funk.
