Abstrakt: The article discusses two updates in UK legislation. The first update pertains to the delay in amending the ancillary activities test, which determines which firms need to be authorized as investment firms based on their commodities and emission allowances trading business. The Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (Commodity Derivatives and Emission Allowances) (Amendment) Order 2024 omits provisions related to the new ancillary activities regime. The second update involves the expansion of equivalence for US derivatives trading venues. The UK onshored the EU's 2017 equivalence decision, ensuring that UK counterparties can continue to satisfy the derivatives trading obligation when trading on designated US contract markets and swap execution facilities.
