This document summarizes a study on the esthetic perception of incisal-embrasure spaces in orthodontics. The study found that both orthodontists and laypeople preferred small incisal embrasures in the 0-2mm range, with 1mm embrasures being rated the highest. Orthodontists were more sensitive to differences within that range, while laypeople did not see a significant difference. The study acknowledges limitations such as a small sample size and the use of frontal photographs only. Further research into ideal incisal embrasure shapes could assist orthodontists in achieving more esthetic finishes. [Extracted from the article] |
