Abstrakt: A recent study conducted by researchers at Shiraz University of Medical Sciences in Iran examined the use of drug data and self-reports to estimate the prevalence of chronic diseases in less developed regions. The study found that drug data alone cannot accurately estimate disease prevalence in these settings and recommended using a combination of drug data and self-report data for epidemiological investigations. The research compared the use of disease-related drugs against self-reports of various chronic diseases and found that the similarity between drug use and self-report varied across different diseases. The study highlights the importance of considering multiple sources of data when estimating disease prevalence in less developed settings. [Extracted from the article]
