A recent study from the Kulakov National Medical Research Center of Obstetrics explores the benefits and limitations of breastfeeding for mothers with malignant tumors, specifically breast cancer. The research highlights the importance of breastfeeding in reducing the risk of developing breast and ovarian cancer. The study suggests that breastfeeding is generally safe for both mother and child, but the ability to breastfeed may depend on the treatment of the underlying disease. Surgical treatment does not contraindicate breastfeeding, but it may not always be technically possible. Chemotherapy is not recommended during breastfeeding, but radiotherapy may be possible using a healthy mammary gland. Overall, there is currently no evidence to suggest that breastfeeding has negative effects on women diagnosed with cancer. [Extracted from the article] |
