This article explores the use of CAD/CAM technology to design a rapid palatal expander (RPE) that can prevent buccal molar tipping, a common side effect of RPEs. The authors describe the design and printing process of the RPE and present a case study to demonstrate its effectiveness. They also discuss the use of skeletal miniscrew anchorage to eliminate buccal inclination of the molars during expansion. The article concludes by discussing the advantages and disadvantages of different types of RPEs in different patient populations. [Extracted from the article] |
