A recent report from researchers at the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences provides new insights into Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF), a systemic autoinflammatory disorder caused by mutations in the MEFV gene. The study focused on the generation of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) from a patient with FMF carrying a specific mutation in the MEFV gene. The researchers found that the morphology of macrophages derived from these iPSCs differed significantly from those derived from iPSCs of a healthy donor. This research contributes to a better understanding of the molecular genetic mechanisms underlying FMF. [Extracted from the article] |
