Abstrakt: Researchers from University Hospital Ibn Rochd have conducted a study on echinococcosis, a parasitic disease caused by infestation with Echinococcosis granulose. The study focuses on the diagnosis and multidisciplinary management of a large primary retroperitoneal hydatid cyst, which is a rare form of the disease. The researchers emphasize the importance of a multidisciplinary approach, including collaboration with infectious diseases specialists, in order to improve treatment outcomes and reduce the risk of recurrence. Surgery is the mainstay of treatment for large, symptomatic forms of the disease, but it is crucial to consider the risk of contamination of other sites during surgery. The study highlights the need for special attention to be given to evaluating lumbar masses or cystic masses, particularly in endemic areas. [Extracted from the article]
