Abstrakt: To evaluate the immunohistochemical profile of markers associated with dendritic cells (DCs) in benign and malignant salivary gland tumors (SGTs). SGT samples were collected from three reference centers for the diagnosis of oral diseases. Samples were histologically prepared by the tissue microarray technique (TMA) and submitted to immunohistochemical reactions against CD1a, CD83, CD207, and Ki67 antibodies. Forty-one samples of malignant salivary gland tumors and twenty-two samples of benign salivary gland tumors were included in this study. Immunomarkers in SGTs were evaluated using Image J 1.51k software. There was a significant difference between pleomorphic adenoma and carcinoma ex pleomorphic adenoma regarding the density of DCs immunostained by CD207+ (p=0.028) and CD83 (p<0.001). There was also a difference when comparing the cell proliferation index between groups using the Ki67 marker (p=0.024). However, there was no difference in the DCs population regarding clinical parameters such as sex, anatomical location, and metastases (p>0.05). Knowledge of the immunohistochemical profile of DCs and cell proliferation biomarkers in SGTs can contribute as an important tool in the differentiation of benign and malignant tumors, as well as a possible strategy in the development of therapies using the potential of DCs.
