Abstrakt: The surgical ciliated cysts (SCC) are cystic formations resulting from the entrapment of respiratory epithelium, classified as mucous retention cysts of iatrogenic or traumatic causes. This report describes a case of a 45-year-old female patient with melanoderma who reported being unable to undergo an implant due to a cyst in the maxilla. Intraoral examination revealed edentulism of the upper arch and a discrete swelling on the left side of the palate and vestibular region. Cone-beam computed tomography showed a hypodense lesion circumscribed by a hyperdense halo, unilocular in the left maxillary region. An aspiration puncture showed yellowish secretion and an incisional biopsy was subsequently performed. Histopathological analysis revealed fibrous connective tissue fragments partially lined with pseudostratified ciliated columnar epithelium with exocytosis and areas of inflammatory exudate. Based on clinical, imaging, and microscopic findings, the final diagnosis was SCC. The patient is follow-up, and further surgical excision of the lesion is recommended. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
