A 20-year-old man was admitted to the hospital after developing ulcerated and erosive lesions on the conjunctival and genital mucosa, as well as disseminated lesions throughout the oral cavity. He had been experiencing intense pain and difficulty eating for the past two weeks. The patient reported the use of Flexalgin for approximately two months. Based on clinical presentation, the diagnosis was consistent with Stevens-Johnson syndrome. Systemic treatment was initiated, which included intravenous administration of dexamethasone (4mg/mL) and 0.9% sodium chloride. Additionally, local treatment involved the application of dexpanthenol on the lips. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) was administered in areas with ulcerations, and red photobiomodulatory therapy (TFBM) was performed on areas with erosion and erythema. The TFBM was applied with a power of 2J for 20 seconds per stitch. Following the treatment, there was a significant reduction in pain, allowing the patient to transition from a liquid to a pasty diet. The oral and mucosal lesions began to regress, and after seven days of treatment, the patient no longer had dietary restrictions. He was subsequently discharged from the hospital and advised to continue treatment on an outpatient basis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
