Adenomatoid Odontogenic Tumor (AOT) is a benign tumor more frequently observed in males and often found in the maxilla. A 17-year-old female patient reported a mass bothering her mouth, noticed eighteen months ago, accompanied by pain on palpation and chewing. The medical history disclosed frequent fainting episodes and a habit of nibbling the lower lip. Physical examination revealed swelling on the left cheek extending from 33 to 36, erythema, gingival edema, and tooth displacement. Cone-Beam Computed Tomography illustrated a hypodense region interspersed with hyperdense images, cortical bone expansion/rupture, tooth displacement towards the base of the mandible, and root resorption. Ultrasonography ruled out a vascular lesion, and the incisional biopsy identified a cystic cavity containing micro accumulations of mucoid material and micro areas of mineralization, leading to the final diagnosis of AOT. The lesion was successfully enucleated, and the patient is currently in good health. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
